Snowdons PYG track march 18th pt3

Continuing the walk ,PT 2 HERE we are heading up to the view point above Glaslyn , the ground conditions are getting very slippery now with the snow getting deeper and i can see walkers struggling to get up the steep section above the lake.

Fabulous views from up here today , it doesn't feel cold either with the sun reflecting warmth off the snow.  Mollster is really enjoying herself and she sinks up to her belly in the snow here .

walking a little further up the mountain side to get clean undisturbed snow to get this image.

The summit of Snowdon is shrouded in mist and low cloud ahead of us as we climb higher to get our first view of Glaslyn.

                                                           Posing again are we Mol?

We have now reached our first view of Glaslyn with Snowdon behind, Mol is posing again , she is showing off i think!

this is the view ahead , stunning
I turn around to the view behind of Llyn Llydaw and she is posing yet again!  come on Moll, get out of the way for a change

come on Mollster , we need to get a move on. a long way to go yet and to get back to car park before the ticket runs out.   Glaslyn in the distance is our target, the path passes high above it.  we are making good progress now.

look at her zig zag tracks in the snow  hehe

We have now reached to top of this section, the sky is really threatening but it is going the other way, looks like its snowing in the distance but the suns out here

This is Glaslyn with Snowdon behind, this path climbs steeply up the right hand side in the image below , would need crampons to go up there today i think for safety.

                                                                 Looking confused!

Heading back now after a photo shoot , its been a superb walk, a little slippery on the steeper sections though. Mol is running through the deep snow now

the view back towards the car park, sun has disappeared now. I have to take it easy going down now, don't want to slip!

We have reached the style i had to get Mol to jump over , from this side i have to help her as its a higher drop , she still hasnt got the hang of jumping these yet!

having reached the bottom near to the pen-y-pass car park i take one last image of Mollster with the Lamberis pass in the background.

what a fantastic day we have had, really didnt expect that much snow , but with the sun it was quite warm most of the day.  the forecast is for more snow so i think there will be many more snowy adventures this spring, winter doesnt want to relinquish its grasp this year!

Snowdon Pyg track pt2 March 18th 2013

Continuing the walk along the Pyg track, the snow is quite deep, glistening in the warm sunlight. Molly is really enjoying herself, eating loads of snow and ploughing through the deep drifts.
of course she is posing a lot as per usual :D

Really thick dark cloud has been building but luckily it has gone around the back of snowdon , gives a good contrast to the snow in this image.

Mollster has found another posing platform  haha

the views are amazing today from up here, looking down on the lakes that we walked around earlier this year in the snow.  HERE

this small stream leads nicely into the image, I like this composition.

the path is clearly visible where other walkers have been today already, if we get any more snow it will not be easy to negotiate this path!

I love how the snow looks like it has been folded over the landscape like marzipan :D

She is loving this ,  pity I didn't get a pic of her falling in this stream a few minutes ago!

we are heading up to the high viewpoint overlooking Glaslyn now , with Snowdon behind. still a way to go, but it is a lovely morning and walking in the snow with sunny skies is always great

the dramatic dark sky does look good , Molly is ploughing through the deep snow again.

Yay!    posing again Mol. she struggled to get up on this one in the snow    haha

come on Mol, I'm waiting for you now!  blue sky appearing again :)

we have just stopped for a photo shoot, wonderful background for her to pose against!

the trip continues in part 3

Snowdons Pyg track in the snow March 18th pt1

After heavy overnight snow fall in Snowdonia i drove up to the Pen-y-pass car park to take Molly along the PYG track to get some good photos from higher up .

The view towards Snowdon over the twin lakes is always superb.

Upon reaching the top of the pass ,there was a good covering of snow in the car park which was quite busy for a monday. we are going to take the PYG track which is the higher path heading up Snowdon.  looking down the Lanberis pass , Molly poses for a pic :)

Molly is having a great time in the snow, rolling and sticking her head right in the deep snow :)

the views are stunning today, snow really makes a landscape more interesting .

Moll is leading the way, climbing steadily upwards.

more fun in the snow trying to sledge!  uphill mol????  strange dog!

looking back down to the car park, weather not good in that direction, but blue sky in front for now.

i just love the snowy landscape, much more interesting than a summers day in the mountains, we have walked a long way already , must keep going , really enjoying today already :D

                                                  Mollster is thinking..................................

"come on, its this way!   you stop too much taking photos "

                                                            "Crib Goch" ahead of us

Heading to the steeper section the snow is really deep, the sun is lighting up the mounds and contours which looks amazing. so i am taking loads images , here are a few of them.

this is my fav image, the sun is breaking through now

Having reached the top of this section ,i have to get moll to jump over a stile, she has not tried before. once over we get the first glimpse looking down on Llyn Llydaw

Molly surveying the view, fantastic today with Snowdon shrouded in cloud.

this path is a nice level walk for a long way , although its quite narrow and have to be very careful in this snow. Mol is loving running in the snow up on the steep slopes   haha

A Panorama image , view LARGE

Mol having fun, a mini avalanche occurred  here , a large snowball formed in centre of image!

Lets "pose" again shall i , molly says :)
the sun is out now and its feeling quite warm, the suns glare of the snow is blinding!

she just cant help herself , such a show off!

the journey continues in part 2 , far too many images lol
