Cornwall Polly Joke and Crantock

I have got up early and walked down to Polly Joke beach to get a few drone images. The light is really nice and very little wind.  it is however due to cloud over , and i can see out over the sea in the distance it is already clouding over quickly.

The sea is a Fabulous colour .  Gull rock is just visible over off Holywell Bay in the background.

Here is a full panorama image , originally shot with 21 frames , but i have removed a few for composition

                                                                     6 Frame Vertorama

I have walked around the headland to view Crantock bay , a quick vertorama image before the cloud came over.   I will walk back to the van now as its going to be cloudy for the rest of today , but tomorrow i will take Ozzy for a photo shoot on Crantock beach.

The next morning it is blue sky , time for the long walk to Crantock with Ozzy.

                                                   All shot with 5dsr  100-400mmL

A very happy pup :)

That was a great morning , the tide has come in a long way so i need to climb up the sand dunes now as the short cut up the steps is now under water .

The way down to the beach Steps under water now!

The end of another great day in Cornwall.

Cornwall Holiday pt5 Epic Holywell Sunset

This morning another walk along the beach and up onto the headland.

Still breezy and some good waves coming to shore .

Now for sunset ,   we have walked down in plenty of time to give the dogs a run first , and scout out a few possible compositions for later .

As the sun sets low near the horizon ,the light is looking good and with some very nice clouds it is looking like a good sunset is possible ,  But  the clouds are moving very quickly so they will be long gone I fear before sunset time.

While I am on the beach looking for compositions the dogs are watching me , or trying too as Jan is standing in the way forcing Chester to try to look around her.

Almost sunset and the cloud has built up really fast , its looking great now.

Two frame focus stack ,  one focused on the immediate foreground sand and the second on Gull Rock  , merged in Zerene Stacker.   5dsr  17-40 L

Trying to get the sand ripples as a leading line to the sun.

This is the peak of the colour ,I did not expect this tonight . Nice patterns created in the sand by the stream running into the sea work well in this composition , better than the previous image.

                                  5dsr  17-40 L   0.3 sec   f13  iso 100    0.9 soft nd grad

The colour faded quickly after this , so this is the last image of the night on the camera.

A phone picture taken as the colour faded.

Cornwall Holiday pt 3 Penhale Point

This morning i am taking Ozzy with me to walk all the way around to Penhale Point so i can hopefully get a drone flight in.,   Its a long walk down the steep road to Holywell beach and then around the headland , and its going to be hot today.  As i pass the village near the bottom of the hill the traffic is already backing up as the carpark must be full already!

Up on the headland overlooking Holywell Bay and looking towards Gull Rock.

Ozzy happy to sit for a photo .

This is one of two setts of antennas on the cliff tops , i have no idea what they were or are used for.

There is a sea arch down the cliff side , that would be great to get the drone down there but it is a difficult area with the edge of a no fly zone just to the left which is where i would need to be.

Time to get the Drone up in the air, this is the first day when the wind has not been too strong to fly safely.   Ozzy is happy to sit and watch , Unlike Chester who i have left back in the van  as he would just bark continuously if i stop walking!

5 frame Vertorama looking across to Holywell beach.

I tried to get the arch with Gull rock in the background , but my view was obstructed if i went any lower so didn't risk getting too close to the rocks.  If i had stood on the opposite side it would have been better but that is on the edge of a no fly zone so was not an option unfortunately.

Gull Rock and Penhale point

                                                                   5 frame Vertorama

                                         A full 9 frame panorama , 9 frames merged.

Continuing the walk around the headland now but i wont go far as its has become very hot now and its a long walk back to the van.

That is as far i will go , good to have a look and will now head back.  A view of the sand dunes as i pass through along the back of the beach . It is easier going this long way back as the climb up the steep hill in this heat will be horrible.

Cornwall Holiday pt 3 Crantock Beach/Holywell Sunset

This morning a nice walk to Crantock , one of my favorite beaches.

Its a long walk across the meadows to Polly Joke, then up over Pentire headland and around the coastal path to cross over the sand dunes behind the beach.  If the tide is out far enough there is a  set of steps to get down about half way ,  but as you can see the tide is too high at present so will have to walk right the way round to the dunes in the distance.

What a stunning day , beautiful blue sky and water .

The dues are where we can get down to the beach.........  hopefully

This way to the beach,  and a huge drop off that both dogs leapt down and found we couldnt follow!  Ozzy jumped back up but Chester with shorter legs couldn't manage to get back up and had to go around the outside .

                                                                   Where is Chester  lol

Straight into the sea ...........

Time to walk back now, we have managed to walk across to the steps halfway along the cliffs now the tide has gone out.

One last image across the bay

Tonight i have walked down to Holywell for hopefully a good sunset
It is looking good so far , fairly good waves crashing on the top of the beach so i am going to try get the low sun light illuminating the waves.

                                                       5dsr  17-40 L    1/20 th  f13  iso 100

1/20 th sec    i shot a series of frames in "continuous mode "to hopefully catch the light on the wave tops as they break.   out of about 30 frames i got a couple that worked out how i wanted.

A long exposure to show the receding wave across the sand.         1.3 secs  f8  iso 100

                                                                              1.3 seconds   F8

Time to head back to the van now ,  one last phone image...........
