Aberglaslyn Gorge and Llyn Dinas autumn colour nov 1st 2015

Today i am taking Jan and the Terrible Twosome to see the stunning Aberglaslyn Gorge near Beddgelert .  the previous week has been very wet so i don't know what the conditions will be like!

Having walked through the woods ,and down onto the river side path,  it is extremely wet and slippery , Jan's walking shoes have no grip whatsoever!

Superb colours on a few trees , but not as much as this time last year.

I dont think we are going to get much further than this point , the rocks are like glass and we can see a few people struggling to come down the path in the distance.

The lake we passed on the way , Llyn Dinas looked flat calm so maybe that would be a better walk than here , especially for Jan :)

So back we have driven and parken in the lay by near to the lake ,  it is still flat calm and the reflections look stunning!

Putting long lens on and concentrating on the reflections :)

Crossing the footbridge to take the path up Moel Dyniewyd which heads back towards Aberglaslyn.

Up high now , stunning views .

                                                                  Good posing Mollster :)

                                                                 Beautiful reflections

                                                                  More posing hey Mol :)

On our way back down now

The opposite cliffs are reflected in the calm water .

A last reflection image , 2 frames stitched together.

Sun is getting lower now illuminating the trees nicely .

Low setting sun lighting up the trees near the end of the road :)

A quick run on the beach at north shore on the way home :)

Aberglaslyn Gorge Nov 2 nd 2014

After another reasonable week of weather the tree colours should be looking great now , so another trip to Aberglaslyn  i think today.   The mountain forecast is again changeable, with periods of  blue sky and heavy rain showers.
Driving along the Nant Ffrancon valley i stop off at Ogwen Bank to take a look at the falls ,its a bit dreary looking down the valley...........

But the falls are looking great :)

Heading back to the car i notice the sun lighting up one of the trees along the stream down in the valley , shooting with long lens to get this shot .

Now to drive down past Snowdon and Beddgelert to the Gorge.
As i walk down to the river through the woods, the sun breaks through with patches of blue sky  Yay!
I walk onto the road bridge that crosses the river , wow   great colours

Setting up the tripod , and dodging traffic crossing the narrow bridge, i firstly take this image.

2 seconds f14 gives good water "Movement"

A wider view , the colours are only in small areas unfortunately.  but the rushing water looks good with again 2 seconds f14.

Now as the sun lights up the mountain side up the valley , i quickly shoot a few frames before it clouds over again  ,  this is my favourite image from today.

                                                                    3.2 seconds   f18

Now i am walking upstream on the right bank , taking shots as i go .

                                                                   1.3 seconds f14

Good "flow" movement in this one     1.6 seconds f14

Just 1/2 second in this one, showing more "texture" in the water .

                                                              0.8 second  f18
I can see black clouds behind me over the mountain tops, and its coming this way!     time to go  fast!

It is torrential ,  i am soaked !!!!!!!!  Arghhhhhhhh
Sheltering in the woods until it eases , and i decide to walk along the road to the car, as the trees are looking quite good along this windy road.

And scrambling down to photograph a small stream that runs through the woods.

As i get near to the car the heavens open again , its horrendous now so decide to leave , i have had a great day and got some good images.

I stop to take a few shots on the way up towards Llanberis pass.

Looking down from the viewpoint opposite Snowdon towards Llyn Gwynant in the distance.

Aberglaslyn Gorge Snowdonia oct 20th 2014

The weather forecast is not looking good, but its going to be mainly dry this morning so a trip to Aberglaslyn gorge seems a good idea. I have never been before but seen some interesting photos.
Its a long drive to Beddgelert and then a short drive up the valley to the national trust car park at the top of the gorge section.

A short walk through the woods and i have come to the River , this is one of my first images , probably by favourite from today.
                                                                  1.6 seconds f14

Continuing up the river, the track is very uneven and very slippery.

                                                                           1/2 second f9

a scramble over a few big boulders to get this shot.
                                                                          1/4 second f11

A wooden bridge, which Mollster doesn't like , Any bridge come to think  lol

I have passed the very narrow slippy wall section and am looking up river towards Beddgelert
Get out of the way Mollster!!!!!!

                                                                          2 seconds f14

Its starting to rain, so time to turn around and go back.

Shooting downstream looking into the gorge in the distance.  think the trees need another week or so to develop full colour.

But some of the trees have already turned colour and fallen , Larch needles make good foreground interest in this composition.

Arghh come on stop posing Mol ,Get out of the way!

A slightly closer composition of same view.
                                                                       0.6 second f16

Back to the same view as earlier , but shot with slightly longer shutter speed   1.3 seconds f18.

it is now chucking it down , so rushing back through the woods to the car.  its been a good day shooting a new location.
