Perranporth , Cornwall holiday 12th july 2013

After leaving Trebah we started driving towards Newquay , but seeing a sign to Perranporth we decided to go there for the evening instead .
Driving through the town we head up the steep road to the car park , and what a view!   one of the best views without having to leave the car.

The tide is on its way in ,  but dogs are not allowed on the beach until 6 oclock , so we have an hour or so to wait,  there is a huge sundial sculpture just over to the right from here.

After a chippy dinner we have made our way down to this fabulous beach , Molly and Chester go straight in!    and Molly is straight out after the ball .

Where are you going Mol?    Chester thinks as she goes way out :)

Mol fetching the ball from the surf :)

the sun is setting in the wrong direction for filming here , never mind

                                                         Err  stupid mutts!!!      lol

look at Chester ,  trying to get the ball :)   hes so impatient

There she goes, swimming properly   Yay!

                                                                     Chester is so funny !

                                                      Mollster swiming yet again :)

What a great evening it has been , the sun is setting now and we can make our way back to photograph the sunset from the top of the cliffs near the car.   walking across the beach front i shoot this panorama on my phone

by now its getting near 10 oclock , the beach is still packed with people and dogs , and up on the car park area loads of people watching the sun set :)

just look at the lone surfer!

The end of another fabulous day in Cornwall, only one full  day left here  before going back to Weston super mare for a night stop over before travelling back home,  so sad :(

Trebah Tropical Gardens July 12th Cornwall holiday 2013

After a day resting yesterday when we went for a short walk from Parr beach along to Polkerris  and yes i didn't take my camera!   and saw a male Golden Ringed dragonfly,  Bummer!
This morning we are going to the sub tropical gardens of Trebah which are the other side of Falmouth , which will be the furthest we have travelled all week , about 50 mins drive i think.
The weather is not looking good so far for a change, it was cool with blue sky when we left the campsite but as we arrive at the gardens it is a "chilly " 18 dgrees  haha ,  it hasn't been this cold for ages as i put my coat on!  ONLY KIDDING!  it is forecast to get better later on this afternoon though.

a metal Gunnera fountain sculpture.

walking down on to a lawn overlooking the gardens with a view right down to the sea , its a bit dull and misty but hopefully will brighten up later.

Here we have our first view looking down into the main garden, huge  palms and Dixonia tree ferns abound :)

Amazing treeferns that you can walk under :)

Looking behind there is a glimmer of blue sky, and its warming up nicely now .

walking through glades of huge treeferns and we have now come out into an open clearing...........  a stream running down from the top of valley connecting ponds all the way down to the sea, a couple of large Echiums flower spires  tower above the treeferns

"Where does this go?" Molly is thinking obviously..     a Huge Gunnera Manicata  jungle  (giant rhubarb )

the path goes right through the middle, with the leaves forming a big tunnel :)

coming out into the sunshine , looking back up the valley at the huge area of Gunneras.............

and now looking over the last pool towards the sea

Having reached the far end of the pool , a small narrow set of steps takes us over to the cove, its stunning !  suns out with clear blue sky now   yay!
Mol wants to go in the sea , but dogs have to be kept on leads!!!!!!  so sad!!!!!!!!!!!

she is investigating the area on long lead , Chester is back at the cafe having ice creme   haha

Haha   big waves are a bit scary Moll :)

Mollster has spotted a dog off lead playing in the sea!   some people dont give a stuff about rules!

leaving the cove the path winds its way up the headland giving tiny views through the trees looking up the coast towards Glendurgan, the next valley over which is another sub tropical garden, but dogs arn't allowed so we cant visit :(     spoilsports  not allowing dogs means less visitors for them !

Heading back via the higher path now.....

and at the top of the valley near the entrance

the Echiums are superb, i have grown them in my garden but not quite this tall!

its now early afternoon and we have the rest of the day to go somewhere else , we have really enjoyed this garden, more so than the Lost Gardens of Heligan infact.
Think the dogs want to go to the beach!   lol

Mevagissey 10th july Cornwall holiday

After a superb day at the Eden Project HERE we have picked up Mollster and Chester , and after a quick dinner are now making our way to Mevagissey for the evening.    its still very warm and as we arrive it is quite busy, the harbour actually looks familiar , but i dont think i have been here, even though i remember the aquarium over on the other side of the harbour.
walking down tiny streets to the harbour with small shops selling gifts, ice creme etc and  Jan pops into the bakers to get a few things for lunch tomorrow .

What a superb evening to be here :)

The water is crystal clear and i can see Mullet swimming everywhere :)    now where is my fishing rod???????     Ooops  in the caravan :(

walking around the harbour in beautiful warm evening sunshine with superb views around the boats

                                                             amazing water clarity here !

Having walked around the harbour we are heading to Portmellon Cove which is just around the headland and there is a small beach for the dogs to run on .

around the headland we go , the houses up here are huge!  amazing views they have

                                                     Leaving Mevagissey behind now

We have arrived at Portmellon, but the tide is right up to the beach,  Sorry dogs no play time.   so we go to the pub, where they are chasing ice cubes around on the floor :)   hehe

Back to the car now, down steep narrow streets down into the town.

the end of another day in Cornwall , and tommorow we are going to Trebah gardens :)
