Norfolk Sunsets 8th Sept 2013

After a superb day at Horsey when we got near to the caravan site the sky was looking good for a few sunset images , so leaving Jan & Chester back at the van i took Mollster for a short walk around the nearby lanes to hopefully shoot a few images.

the first image from top of the lane , but i needed to find a few solitary trees for a better composition.

a little better but need better !     i dont think the sun set is going to be a great one, but will see what happens.

Walking down a small track between fields towards a few trees in a more open aspect , it is looking a bit more like what i am after.  The colour is decreasing unfortunatly :(

Norfolk Holiday 2013 sep 8th Horsey windpump & Seals

Sunday morning and a glorious blue sky awaits us as we emerge from the caravan , Horsey wind pump ( windmill) is our destination, its not too far away on the edge of Horsey mere.
arriving at the car park its fairly busy already and i can see the small garden next to the car park where Swallowtail butterfly's are seen earlier in the year , pity we are just a bit late to see them.
walking past the small office/cafe/gift shop a ranger says good morning and mentions the Horsey seal viewing trips he takes, but says its an easy, but long walk over to the coast and the beach , no roads!   we will go later early afternoon we decide.

 we climb up to the top of the tower, where Jan takes this image ,why didn't i think of this?

We are now walking across the fields to the coast far in the distance, quite remote so that's probably why the seal population is safe there without too much disturbance.   looking back at the wind pump there is alot of white cloud bubbling up .....

                Arriving at the beach, its superb and great cloud formation adds to the image :)

the dogs go straight in & up pop the seals :)    they are very inquisitive, walk away from the surf edge they disappear!

i can see at least 5 seals , and they are coming quite close to the edge of beach, watching the dogs presumably!

                                 Chester's thinking," hurry up throw the ball in again! "

               look how close the seals are now.   watch out dogs you might get eaten!    lol

Some very dark black clouds have come from behind us, the light is going to be awesome in a few minutes. it has gone very dark overhead but the sun is lighting up the sand :)

         cant believe this light now, and i managed somehow to get the ball in the image also :)

Time to go now , and it looks like rain approaching in the distance behind the wind pump.  we must get a move on!

                                                                       that is a rain storm! 

we have made it back to the car park and moments after i shoot this image its torrential rain for about 10 minutes

then ........................  moments later            amazing difference in a few seconds

Norfolk Holiday september 7th 2013 pt1

Having driven the caravan down to Norfolk on Friday which took about 7 hours , we have set up in a lovely quiet camp site near Ludham . the Weather is looking good for the first few days at least and tomorrow there is a maritime festival at Gt Yarmouth.  Saturday morning arrives and deep blue sky  Perfect!

Arriving at Gt Yarmouth we have a look around the shops first then make our way to South Quay where the festival is situated, the dogs are well behaved so far but i don't think Mollster is going to like the crowds.   there are ships moored along the quay and stalls selling assorts of food and gifts along the narrow walkway.

Molly is not liking all the crowds, but as we have walked the entire length of the quay we have decided to leave and take the dogs for a run on the beach, the area to the left of the pier is dog friendly so we are heading there.  here is our first view across the sand dunes :)     Its really windy down here , but fairly warm

                               Big clouds are appearing now , but dont think it will rain

      Come on, we have to go now dogs!            Nooo  we want to stay they must be thinking!

                      back in the sand dunes to try and dry them off a bit with chasing the ball

hay is being bailed in all the fields around Ludham , more of them another day

almost the end of our first day in Norfolk , back at the caravan Jan gets the dinner on while i go up the lane to photograph the sun set

Sundays forecast is for more sunny weather so we are going to Horsey windpump which is only half hour away.
